Job Description

As a Software Development Engineer – Process Automation, you will join the Engineering & DevOps Services (EDS) team within AI, Data & Automation (AIDA) at Autodesk. The team focuses on building, operating, and scaling workflow-driven process automations that enable reliable, repeatable execution of enterprise business processes.

This role is heavily hands-on and focuses on designing, building, operating, and supporting automation workflows rather than traditional application development. You will work with n8n, Microsoft Power Automate, and Python-based AWS Lambda functions, integrating enterprise systems through APIs and event-driven workflows.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automation workflows using n8n and Microsoft Power Automate.
  • Build Python-based AWS Lambda functions to support automation logic, transformations, and integrations.
  • Integrate automation workflows with internal and external systems using RESTful APIs, webhooks, and events.
  • Deploy and support automation services using AWS-native patterns and existing CI/CD pipelines.
  • Monitor automation executions, analyze failures, and participate in incident troubleshooting and resolution.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and testable Python code following established engineering standards.
  • Manage workflow configurations, parameters, and mappings using JSON and YAML.
  • Work closely with senior engineers to understand requirements and translate them into reliable automation solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed automation into end-to-end business processes.
  • Adhere to governance, security, and responsible-use guidelines when building automation workflows.
  • Continuously learn and evaluate new automation tools, patterns, and best practices.

Requirements / Skills

  • Experience: 0–2 years of experience in software development, scripting, or automation engineering.
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Programming Skills: Foundational to intermediate proficiency in Python (required).
  • Hands-on exposure to workflow-based automation platforms such as n8n, Power Automate, or similar tools.
  • Required experience working with JSON and/or YAML configuration files.
  • Exposure to backend automation orchestration or integration platforms is a value-add.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (English).
