Role Overview
The Software Engineer role within Cisco’s Cloud Security Engineering organization focuses on supporting the development, deployment, and operation of cloud-native infrastructure and microservices. Engineers collaborate with development and operations teams to automate software delivery, improve deployment reliability, monitor cloud infrastructure, and contribute to modern DevOps workflows.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist development and operations teams in building, automating, and improving software delivery processes.

- Help monitor application and infrastructure health using observability and monitoring tools.
- Participate in troubleshooting issues across applications, platforms, and cloud environments.

Required Skills & Eligibility
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Fresh graduate or early-career candidate with strong interest in Cloud DevOps, SRE, infrastructure, or automation.
- Foundational understanding of software development and operating system concepts.
- Basic programming or scripting knowledge in Python, Java, JavaScript, Go, Bash, or Shell scripting.
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux systems and command-line usage.
- Basic understanding of cloud computing concepts including compute, storage, networking, and managed services.
- Exposure to AWS, Azure, or GCP through projects, coursework, internships, or self-learning.
- Basic understanding of DevOps concepts including CI/CD, deployment, automation, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Awareness of Docker and familiarity with Kubernetes is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced engineering environment.
- Academic projects or internships related to cloud, backend systems, DevOps, or automation are preferred.
- Exposure to Git, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, networking fundamentals, monitoring tools, and microservices architecture is a plus.
